NAIVE
NAÏVE is a new Easter collection by Gunia Project, inspired by the aesthetic of naive art, a movement that embraces unpolished beauty and sincerity. Ukrainian traditional rushnyky* serve as the central reference for this collection. These embroidered cloths, primarily from the 1950s and 1960s, are adorned with motifs from various regions: flowers, birds, angels, nature scenes, and rural imagery. Through a naive artistic lens, they celebrate themes of love, prosperity, the beauty of life, and the arrival of spring.
The collection features a modernized teapot silhouette, ornate square plates, classic sugar bowls, and footed cups. An Easter plate and a rabbit-shaped candle serve as festive centerpieces. The pieces, in soft pastels with black and gilded accents, are hand-painted and adorned with designs like swans, lovebirds, and blooming hearts, translated from traditional embroidery. This melding of craft and contemporary design showcases each item’s uniqueness and the timeless appeal of naive art. NAÏVE connects cultural heritage with modern design, celebrating the universal beauty of handmade traditions and their ability to bridge generations and cultures.
