The glass Christmas ball is hand-painted based on the painting "...a Polish catfish from a pond is looking for clean water, but we don't have any" (1989)
The fantastic beasts of Maria Prymachenko are not only the artist's incredible imagination but also her voice on important topics for society. The artist`s village is located within a 30-kilometer zone of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Upon hearing the news about the accident, Mrs. Maria didn't want to leave her home, as she loved the native nature of Polissia so much. In his works, Prymachenko sets the theme of the Chornobyl tragedy, the atomic war, and warns society against the consequences.
When choosing paintings for the ball set, we couldn't pass this one up. After all, it is precisely in such drawings that the real voice of the artist is found. She speaks to people creatively.
