In Ukraine, there are many traditions for celebrating Saint Nicholas Day. In the villages of Slobozhanshchyna, it was common to gather together after the church and brew beer. For children, special cookies called “Mykolaychyky” were prepared for this holiday. In the Kharkiv region, there was a tradition of celebrating a three-day festivity for Saint Nicholas, preparing kutia and uzvar. In Podillya, they awaited the 'polaznyk' — a person with positive energy, who should enter the house first. One thing remains unchanged — the desire to give a present.
