About

Scarf Featuring Kazimir Malevich’s “Suprematism”

Kazimir Malevich created numerous works titled “Suprematism.” This particular painting dates back to 1928–1929 and was likely made during the period when the artist was working at the Kyiv Art Institute. While it is not known for certain whether the work was created in Kyiv, it reflects an important stage of Malevich’s artistic journey.

In this composition, Malevich depicts four elongated colored rectangles, arranged in the form of a slightly tilted cross. The dynamic angle creates a sense of movement, emphasizing the principles of Suprematism — pure form, color, and motion beyond the physical world.

The advisor for the “Malevich” collection is Tetiana Filevska — curator, researcher, author, and Creative Director of the Ukrainian Institute.
