Shirt “Poltavska”

Especially rich are Poltava shirts embroidered  white on white, where transparent and opaque seams are combined.

The wide sleeves were sewn up entirely with ornaments, but thanks to openwork techniques, cut out embroidery and lace, they were not overloaded.

The selected fragment shows a common ornament: a grid of diamonds, each of which has a tree inscribed in it.

The motif of the flower crowning the tree echoes star embroidered on the front stripes, creating a perfect and coherent composition.

• Shirt with ties on the back and puffy wide sleeves gathered at the cuffs.
• Assembly at the neck, small slits on the sides.
• Embroidery is located around the perimeter of the sleeves and on the front of the shirt.
