About

This landmark publication represents a unique collection of artifacts from the Luhansk region, curated from the "Textiles and Clothing" funds of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine—one of the country’s most prestigious ethnographic centers and one of the largest open-air museums (skansens) in Europe.

In this volume, researchers have meticulously digitized and scientifically described over 100 authentic garments from the districts of Bilovodsk, Bilokurakyne, Kreminna, Novoaidar, Novopskov, Svatove, and Starobilsk. As of 2025, with much of the Luhansk region under Russian occupation, this book serves as vital documentary evidence of the region’s deep-rooted and inherently Ukrainian identity.

The authors consider it a strategic priority to document the cultural heritage of occupied territories, ensuring that these artistic traditions are never erased, even in the face of physical destruction during the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.

What’s Inside:
High-Resolution Photography: Detailed images of authentic embroidered shirts, capturing every texture and thread.
Garment Construction: Technical drawings of traditional cuts and silhouettes.
Embroidered Schemes: Precise patterns and schemes for those looking to study or recreate these ancient designs.
